Testimony

This past Sunday, I woke up with a mix of anxiety and excitement. Susan and I would be representing Team JAMES and giving testimony in front of the whole church about the great opportunity God was giving us to love China's orphans. I had anxiety because I wasn't sure how the congregation would receive the mission trip. Also, Susan and I hadn't practiced the translation in its entirety yet. However, despite it all, God gave me peace and reminded me how He had led us to this point so far. God would surely see us through to the end.
His peace brought excitement at what the possibilities would be if the church was supportive of the mission. Praise God that the testimony and translation went smoothly. As we were giving testimony and I looked out to the congregation, I noticed how attentive everyone was and how God was capturing everyone's hearts.

Afterwards, I marveled at what God had done; He had weaved together all of the meeting's testimonies and worship and included us as part of His plan. Glory to God and praise God that we were able to witness His glory. He reigns!

By Grace,
Jose

Smile!

Nina Jeng, Multimedia Producer from WSJ taught us how to properly take photos and use a camcorder for video capturing. She gave us a lot of pointers with lighting, camera angles and background selections. Thank you Nina for the media tips! Now we just need to practice shooting before our trip.

God’s Instrument at Play

We had the pleasure of having Anita Lee, Special Education Teacher and Joe Yau, Physical Therapy Student teach us some VBS games and activities. AJ said that games and activities play vital roles for the overall development of children. Depending upon the age group, various activities are available to choose from. The key is to be creative and to modify as needed. For younger children, activities which give hand eye coordination are excellent. Some activities will help children solve problems by thinking of the different possibilities for a particular situation. This will help them adapt to any new situations and even real world experiences. By participating in activities with children, staff/volunteers can monitor the development of their skills and establish bonding. Games can be entertainment, educational and fun. We can’t wait to try out the new games/activities we learned with the children. Hopefully, we will be able to spark some smiles and laughter.

Thank God for His Abundant Gifts!

New Day Creations listed winter clothing on their supply list request. We were wondering how/where to purchase such clothing. Subsequently, we received an email from Sky Chen of QCAC inquiring whether we would like to bring clothing as gifts to China since they have quite a bit clothes left from their Clothe-a-thon. Of course we jumped at the idea! Sky and Elissa of Team JAMES coordinated the pick-up and filled two large suit cases with 61 unisex denim shirts and 28 pairs of pants. Sky wrote in her email “Thank God for the opportunity to meet the need across the sea and thank God for the strong hands and caring hearts to bring it across.” Aww…Thank you Sky for being such a blessing to us all. You are a true advocate of God’s Goodness! We look forward to see the little children in their new outfits.
